Rwanda is located in central Africa with no access to the sea. The climate is equatorial, modified by the altitude over sea level, with rainy season. Principal crops include coffee, tea, pyrethrum, cotton, sugar cane, tobacco, vegetables and china tree. The best known areas on which coffee is grown are Gishamwana, Rulindo, Nyamasheke, Karenge, Kirimbi. Coffees from Rwanda are characteristic for their intense flavour, silk body and enjoyable citrus acidity.

Terroir: The most frequently sensed coffee aromas from Rwanda are citrus fruit, mainly limes, cranberries, grapes, sweet raisins, tamarind fruit, blackberries, cherries, plums, equally common are caramel, toffee, sugar cane, jasmine scents, sometimes also cocoa, chocolate.
